In
an active newsgroup, like vista.general, for example, there may be a couple thousand messages some days. So if you log onto that NG only once a day, Then I got WLMd just a couple of days before it was replaced by WLM. My slight experience with WLMd makes me think that WLM is better than WLMd and much better

What's the latest version of mail desktop?
When I logged into WLMD today, the search pane is back. I have been missing the ads (or even the option of reverting to the ads) for some time now. All that I have is the Active Search pane and my option to turn it off is greyed out. I guess we just need to be patient until Microsoft decides what they are doing.

This morning the ADs/Active Search pane are back (?)
"active search" is ugly and limits the space for reading my email. if active search wasn't there, would there be an ad? if so, that's ridiculous. from my understanding, i shouldn't have to see ads (images or text). you know? it's not like if i use IE, i get ads *from* IE. So don't use WLMD for your ISP mail.

Seems to be a failing of MSOE carried over to WLMd; when all else fails, thread by subject. A *real* news reader will thread by Message-ID, using a References header line. In any case, when I first installed WLMd, I had an ad pane, which could be toggled to the Active Search pane. I toggled it because I'd rather
